QWhy is it a multimode survey? Why not only use the Internet?
A

During the initial survey, face-to-face interviews are used because probability sampling is not possible online at this time. During later stages, Internet-based surveys are used to help keep costs down and increase speed. However, while the Internet penetration rate is high in Korea, it is not 100%. Other surveys (e.g., LISS in the Netherlands) have solved this problem by providing Internet access and a device to panel members without Internet access. However, our budget could not support this kind of solution. Instead, we provide an alternative way for panel members without Internet access to answer the survey (phone or face-to-face).

QWhat percentage of panel members answered the survey using an alternative survey mode?
A

During the June-August 2016 survey, 9.6% of respondents answered either by phone or in a face-to-face interview.

QHow can I join the panel?
A

The panel is recruited using random sampling based on residential addresses. It is not possible to ask to join the panel. If you are randomly selected to join the panel, we hope you will choose to participate.

QCan I see the results?
A

All results will be published on this website.

QWho can propose a question to be asked on KAMOS?
A

Any researcher may submit a proposal, regardless of nationality or university affiliation. The number of questions that we can ask on the survey is limited. Therefore, not every proposal will be accepted. The proposal guidelines appear on the Research Proposals page. Please submit research proposals to
